GCS Regular Projects: Call 2026/2 – Application for computing time and extension of expiring projects

Please save the call closing date. Dear Madam/Sir The Gauss Centre for Supercomputing (GCS) provides computing power and services of the highest performance class for computational sciences and engineering. Resources are provided on Europe’s first exascale supercomputer JUPITER (Joint Undertaking Pioneer for Innovative and Transformative Exascale Research). The system contains the two modules JUPITER Booster and, for the first time available in this call, the initial phase of the JUPITER Cluster. The Booster consists of 5884 nodes, each equipped with four NVIDIA GH200 Superchips (72 cores each, 288 cores/node, 4 NVIDIA H100, 96 GB HBM3 each). The 582 nodes of the initial phase of the Cluster are equipped with two AMD Turin 9655 CPUs with 96 cores at 2.6 GHz each, giving 192 cores per node. Of these nodes, 546 have 768 GB of DDR5 memory per node, and 36 have 1563 GB. Further information is provided in the JUPITER Fact-Sheet (see the corresponding link below). Computing time periods have a duration of one year with the possibility of applying twice a year for resources. These periods begin on 1 May and on 1 November of each year, respectively. The current call for computing time allocations opens on 13 July 2026 and you are hereby invited to apply for the upcoming period 1 November 2026 – 31 October 2027 The committees of the John von Neumann-Institute (NIC) and the Gauss Centre for Supercomputing (GCS) are responsible for the comparative peer review process. The reviews of the applications are carried out by national and international experts in their respective scientific fields. Applications can be submitted between 13 July 2026 and 10 August 2026, 17:00 CEST (strict deadline) Eligible for applications are members of German universities and publicly funded German research institutions, e.g., Max-Planck Society, and Helmholtz Association. Applications for GCS Regular Projects must be submitted electronically via the GCS-JARDS form at https://jards.gauss-centre.eu/gcshome/application/ Late applications will not be considered. Please note, that computing and data resources, as well as access to the JSC HPC infrastructure, are provided to the best of our ability. However, approved resources are not guaranteed. We reserve the right to limit the availability of resources if external conditions such as force majeure, obligations to save electricity, or other circumstances make this necessary. GCS Call 2026-2 for Large-Scale Projects on Hunter, JUPITER, und SUPERMUC-NG (Call 36)

Dear Madam/Sir The Gauss Centre for Supercomputing (GCS) provides computing power and services of the highest performance class for computational sciences and engineering at its three member sites in Garching (Leibniz Supercomputing Centre, LRZ), Jülich (Jülich Supercomputing Centre, JSC), and Stuttgart (High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart, HLRS). Projects are classified as “Large-Scale”, if they request >= 25,000 Hunter-node-hours per year on Hunter or >= 140,000 GPU-h on SuperMUC-NG Phase 2 or >= 441.25x10^21 FLOP per year on JUPITER Booster For these large-scale projects, a competitive review and resource allocation process is established by the GCS.
