Dear Madam/Sir The Gauss Centre for Supercomputing (GCS) provides computing power and services of the highest performance class for computational sciences and engineering at its three member sites in Garching (Leibniz Supercomputing Centre, LRZ), Jülich (Jülich Supercomputing Centre, JSC), and Stuttgart (High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart, HLRS). Projects are classified as “Large-Scale”, if they request

= 25,000 Hunter-node-hours per year on Hunter or = 140,000 GPU-h on SuperMUC-NG Phase 2 or = 441.25x10^21 FLOP per year on JUPITER Booster

For these large-scale projects, a competitive review and resource allocation process is established by the GCS. A "Call for Large-Scale Projects" is published by GCS twice a year: https://jards.gauss-centre.eu/PublicFiles/GCS-LS-Call/GaussCall.pdf The current call 2026-2 will be open July 13th to August 10th 2026, 17:00 CEST (strict deadline). The current call covers the period from November 1st, 2026, to October 31st, 2027. Eligible for applications are members of German universities and publicly funded German research institutions, e.g., Max-Planck Society, and Helmholtz Association.
