Dear Madam/Sir, The Gauss Centre for Supercomputing (GCS) provides computing power and services of the highest performance class for computational sciences and engineering. JSC provides resources on JUWELS (Jülich Wizard for European Leadership Science). Its 2511 nodes on the Cluster Module are equipped with dual-socket Intel-Skylake Platinum 8168 CPUs. Furthermore, the JUWELS Booster Module comprises 936 nodes each equipped with two AMD EPYC Rome 7402 CPUs with 512 GB DDR memory each and 4 NVIDIA Ampere A100 GPUs resulting in an overall computing power of 87 PF/s. The deployment of JUPITER is progressing steadily. However, a full production start is not yet determined. As is to be expected with a system of this complexity, some technical challenges still need to be addressed. Therefore, JUPITER is expected to be available as a GCS production system for computing time applications starting with the 2026/1 call. Please note that the JUWELS Cluster Module might be replaced by a successor cluster system during the upcoming granting period. Granted projects will then be migrated to the new system. Details about the migration process will be announced in due time. Additionally, since the availability of the JUWELS Booster will end in early June 2026, successful project applications will be granted a runtime of only 7 months, starting on 1 November 2025. If you decide to apply for computing time for your project on the JUWELS Booster, you will exceptionally have the opportunity to apply for computing time for the same project on JUPITER in the following call (2026/1). This will allow you to seamlessly continue your project for an additional year beyond the initial six months if needed. The option to request a project extension remains unaffected by this arrangement. Computing time periods have a duration of one year with the possibility of applying twice a year for JUWELS resources. These periods begin on 1 May and on 1 November of each year, respectively. The current call for computing time allocations opens on 7 July 2025 and you are hereby invited to apply for the upcoming period 1 November 2025 – 31 October 2026 The committees of the John von Neumann-Institute (NIC) and the Gauss Centre for Supercomputing (GCS) are responsible for the comparative peer review process. The reviews of the applications are carried out by national and international experts in their respective scientific fields. Applications can be submitted between 7 July 2025 and 11 August 2025, 17:00 CEST Eligible for applications are members of German universities and publicly funded German research institutions, e.g., Max-Planck Society, and Helmholtz Association. Applications for GCS Regular Projects must be submitted electronically via the GCS-JARDS form at https://jards.gauss-centre.eu/gcshome/application/ Late applications will not be considered. Please note, that computing and data resources, as well as access to the JSC HPC infrastructure, are provided to the best of our ability. However, approved resources are not guaranteed. We reserve the right to limit the availability of resources if external conditions such as force majeure, obligations to save electricity, or other circumstances make this necessary.
